STEAM Fair Maryland is awarded the 2019 Best Social Media Marketing Campaign from SIPA (Specialized Information Publishers Association).


The goal of the STEAM Maryland Event 2018 social media campaign was to build excitement for this first-time event, encourage participation on the day of the event, and to pre-register for the event. 


STEAM Maryland is a one-day event with the goal to introduce Maryland students to opportunities in STEAM careers that they may not even know exist so that students can pursue the educational path necessary for them to become a professional in a STEAM career that they love. It is a day of learning, observing and experiencing tomorrow’s hot careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. 


A website and logo specifically for the event was developed. All social media was done via Chesapeake Family Life social media pages. Keeping in mind that we reach a young consumer audience with school age children, who will primarily access content via mobile, the channels used included Facebook, Facebook events, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. All social media channels complimented each other along with print, web and e-newsletter campaigns running concurrently. 


  • Results: Total parents reached via the social campaign only was approximately 31,010 or 62% of our total audience. 

  • Facebook reach: 15,800

  • Facebook event page reach: 5,700

  • Instagram reach: 1,468

  • LinkedIn reach to prospective vendors: 550.

  • Twitter reach: 6,690

  • YouTube reach: 782 video views

  • Pre-registration:  Attendance at the STEAM Fair met and exceeded all expectations, with approximately 400 students with their parents spending at least one hour at the STEAM Fair. 

  • Some families stayed for the entire day. 

  • 30 Exhibitor tables sold out the venue.
